Tadalafil must not be taken with any form of nitrate medication, as this combination can produce a severe drop in blood pressure that can cause dizziness, fainting, or even a heart attack. Nitrate medications include the following:
* glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, used for angina or heart failure
* nicorandil
* amyl nitrate
If tadalafil is taken by people who are taking medicines for high blood pressure, the combination may potentially cause an extra drop in blood pressure.

What causes erectile dysfunction
Since an erection requires a precise sequence of events, ED can occur when any of the events is disrupted. The sequence includes nerve impulses in the brain, spinal column, and area around the penis, and response in muscles, fibrous tissues, veins, and arteries in and near the corpora cavernosa.
